In April, the Delaware Beekeepers Association hosted a special workshop with Ross Conrad, one of the foremost authorities on natural beekeeping. Held in Georgetown, attendees came from as far away as New Jersey, Virginia and Pennsylvania to attend. Here, Conrad, (middle) from Vermont, takes his lunch break with Bill Leitzinger (right) while another beekeeper asks questions about Conrad’s presentation. Leitzinger, who is vice-president of the New Castle County chapter of DBA, also practices natural beekeeping, preferring not to use chemical treatments in his opera-tion. This year’s EAS theme is “Toward Non-Chemical Beekeeping” and will take place August 3 to 7 in Ellicotville, N.Y. Conrad will be one of the featured speakers at the organization’s annual meeting.
